Learn, love, live, create!
In collaboration with DICE Theatre Company, Truant Arts is shaking things up for the May edition of our New Play Reading Series by presenting a play that's not even been written yet!
Truant believes that new play creation should be a highly collaborative effort, from early on in the play creation process.
To that end, we are joining forces with DICE, whose artists employ dramatic improvisation to craft brand new plays every time they perform.
On May 15, at Studios 150, DICE is going to explain their process and perform a short piece for us.
That's where you and collaboration come in!
Actors, this is a chance to learn how to mine yourself and the text for richer, fuller characters.
Directors, this is a chance to learn how to use dramatic improvisation to enhance your rehearsal process by better harnessing the creative gifts your actors bring to the room.
Playwrights, this is your opportunity to write new plays for future Truant readings. Draw inspiration from the performance, write a new play, and we'll give you a spot in our 2014-2015 reading series.
Theater lovers, watch and be part of the creative process from start to finish.

About DICE Theatre
D.I.C.E was co-founded by Sarah Lawrence College graduates who studied this unique form under Fanchon Miller Scheier. We studied Dramatic Improv as a tool with which to develop our craft and dive into scene work further. Over time we realized the potential this form had to stand on its own in a performance driven atmosphere. So we took the initiative to take Dramatic Improv out of the class room/rehearsal space and worked to transform it into a performance in and of itself. Our goal is to explore Dramatic Improvisation, both process and performance. We believe that you learn by doing, and we do a lot: each rehearsal our actors serve as the playwrights, director and actors in their own performance.
