Manuel Igrejas’ new play, NSA, has its premiere at the Stage Left’s Left Out Festival with two performances, Wednesday, April 16th at 7:30 pm and Saturday, April 19th at 7:30 pm. His previous plays include Shrinkage, Kitty and Lina, Miss Mary Dugan, Hassan and Sylvia (both won Fresh Fruit Festival Best Play Awards), Margarita and Max (winner Best Short Play, Midtown Festival). Robert Teague (Truant Arts, Chaos and Other Worldly Possessions) directs NSA.
NSA stars Casey Burden, Afrim Gjonbalaj and Kevin Perez.
What's it all about?
Monty and Luis have had a happy romantic partnership for ten years. Their only issue seems to be whether or not to get married. A chance encounter with Stefan, a sexy, mysterious waiter, disrupts their cozy lives: both Monty and Luis have a secret connection to him. Monty comes from a happy Italian family; Luis was raised over a bar by his shady Grandma. Stefan has trouble pinning down exactly where he came from though parts of his past are on display all over the internet. The three men’s lives intertwine in a number of surprising, romantic and potentially devastating ways. NSA stars Casey Burden as Monty, Afrim Gjonbalaj as Luis and Kevin Perez as Stefan.
What's the big deal?
The Left Out Festival features the work of LGBTQ artists and benefits Bailey House, which provides housing and support to people living with HIV and AIDS. This year’s festival features award-winning playwrights and performers, with a special focus on transgender issues. In the 7 years since the Left Out festival began, Stage Left has donated nearly $10,000 to Bailey House and produced over 200 plays and solo shows by LGTBQ artists.

Robert Teague (Director), is a theater producer, director, playwright and sometimes actor who returned to the New York theater family after a quarter of a century in the real world. He is delighted to be working with Manny Igrejas and this fine cast on NSA for a cause as important as Bailey House. Theater works best when it centers itself on the heart and the soul. NSA and the Left Out Festival do both.
