I guess it is time to start working on the next play. This is a terrifying place to be. Always. I have nothing. No thought. No burning mission. No direction. No characters. No story. I never do at this stage of the process.
I'm standing on a hilltop, looking out over a vast wasteland of options. My notebooks are full of seeds and scraps and fragments, but there's nothing yet to work toward.
I have just two things.
1) A self-imposed deadline. I need to have another play ready for rewrites in three months.
2) A process. I know, to a degree, how I'm going to build this thing.
I thought it might be interesting (to me, anyway) to try something a little different this time. I plan to use this blog to make the process happen publicly, so feel free to follow along while I think and write out loud.
